Thanks also to everyone that responded. These lists, and all the members, are the 'shizzle'!!  
Everyone was _very_ helpful and greatly appreciated. Helped me get to the bottom of the issue much more quickly.
That problem FWIW was, after all, a bad battery. The inept, uncaring O'Rielly Auto Parts folks sent me on a wild goose chase. NAPA confirmed the truth. Another life lesson that close and cheap isn't worth it!
