Searching S6's, what specifics to look for?

So, I lost my V8 this week, and I'm already hot on the trail of a new
replacement, hopefully by christmas. 2 Audi's personally owned now, I've
always liked S wagons, and I think the epitome of Audi ownership to me at
this point is probably looking like an S6 Avant, in Emerald Green with Ecru
interior. Not that it has to be that specific, but I'm just getting into
the market now looking at cars, and just curious what sort of things you
guys feel are important other than the obvious.. figure some things I could
use clarification on would be the following:
-Suspension ... When does it need overhaul, and what does it require?
Basically like a T44 or different? Engine/trans mounts needed/not need in
same interval?
-Mileage ... How do the S cars hold up past 100k? 150? 200? There is
naturally a cut off, so what is the best range for price vs maint.
requirement do you think?
-Common issues ... Coil pack failures requiring upgrade? Bad recirc valve?
Leaky waste gate? Crack prone EM? Anything that is a given I should spot
and check for updates/repairs would be nice.
-Rust ... Any sneaky spots underneath trim pannels, behind wheel wells /
flashing, bumpers, etc etc that is common? Lots of these cars are from
Colorado and NE area, so that's a concern, even with the galvanized body.
Already basic items are on the check list. Timing/water pump job within
last 20k/2yrs, I don't wanna deal with it myself right off. Tires, brakes,
Seats/upholstery, Steering wheel, shifter, Windows/Locks/Switches operation,
Brake bomb, and leaks are basically what I'm asking about and looking for to
start.
Really like the idea of a lightly modded S6 Avant with bilstein/HR
suspension and mid 200's, maybe 250+ awhp to be a fun alternative to the
little play toy I have for a car now. Doesn't have to be fast, just comfy,
quick, and net decent mid 20's highway mileage. Might do some aero mods
while I'm at it, usually on my list with other cars.
