Is it possible to replace the element? Mine stopped workin a couple of weeks ago. Would get so hot that I would have to shut it off. When it stopped working, I figured the element went caput.

either your switch is turning it on too high, or, IMO more likely, some of the element has shorted.
Mine always go out, not high.
