Can you be more descriptive of the smell?

Have you checked the integrity of your crankcase breather system and
exhaust?  Is the hood seal on the firewall intact?

I was a passenger in a 90q20v around a track once, and the crank
breather hose had let go.  Whenever the driver accelerated, we both
felt our eyes water and things didn't smell so great, either.  I think
we lasted 1, maybe 2 laps before she called it and we pitted in.
Granted, both front windows were down.

Either way, if you suspect it is exhaust, don't drive the car if you
can avoid it- carbon monoxide poisoning is not fun.
