[urq] Mecaglisse video...

Well, Brandon, I just bought a GoPro Hero Wide camera today, 138.50$US.
Should arrive here soon enough for me to discover its inner beauty.

About the sound, it looks (sounds ?) that this camera is not the best one
for recording sound, because of the waterproof outer shell. That's why JP
played that music over his film. Obviously, since I'm driving the best
sounding engine ever, I'll make sure to record its soundtrack from inside
the car without the waterproof cover.

"Nothing can beat that sound", as Michele said a long time ago.

Looks like a great track!

Yes L-A - get a camera - put it in and on your car - and make a video - but
no music that covers up that glorious 10Vt sound :-)

Finally, someone took the time to film, edit and post a short video of the
Mecaglisse ice track (event from 2010 January 10th). The driver, his name is
JP, is quite good with his stock Impreza on non-studded snows. Other guys in
our group rides Impreza and WRX, but also a stock Mitsubishi EVO 1992 RHD.
We can see that car in the second video.

The tri-color BMW 325ix that is literally on the snowbank was running on
rally gravel tires, and the guy was a rookie on ice, hence the numerous off
track excursions we can see in the video. In the one toward the end, we were
two cars pulling on his front tow hook, which came off the car " because
that was the last bit to do on the car before homologation, so we "forgot"
the reinforcing plate behind the aluminum bumper", as he told me later. That
could have being seriously dangerous.

Anyway, in our group, there is not many off-track ventures, except when a
newbie arrives.

About filming, these HERO cameras are wonderful little devices, wide-angled
and waterproof. I want one.

About snow, there is not much this year. Usually, snowbanks are 4-6 feet
high.

There is still 2 more lapping sessions : February 21st, daytime. And, for
the first time in history of that track, there may be a night session, March
13th. I'll be there for both. I'm preparing a special set of driving lamps,
a set of 4 or 6 that will be installed on the Thule bar on the roof. I want
to SEE. That's what these guys do, because they are so far north in Norway.

Cheers,
