Dave Conner's Jointed wiper arms

Before I got my 87 5ktq I wasn't very interested in what made the wheels go
around. Then, so many things under my car required attention that I had to
turn to this group in order to survive, and my education began. But my
whole concept of what was "normal" in suspensions came from crawling around
under this old 87 5ktq.

As the years went by and I got interested in how other companies built
their suspensions, I was surprised at how fragile and light weight the
components of many other cars appeared. My idea of "normal" was what I saw
under my 87.

I am reminded that many public parks and American Legion Posts are
decorated with Sherman tanks left over from the 2d World War. "Built like
a tank" would be appropriate for our old quattro systems. Perhaps out
there in the Green Future, our Audis will end up as decorations in public
parks, when everything else with wheels is made of carbon fiber, runs on
electricity, and can be plugged in at night. When that happens, I'll donate
my sturdy old Audi to the city and maybe write it off on my income tax.....

Gotta go shovel some snow. The drift with the wiper arms sticking out is
getting pretty deep.
