I tried FA7 on my win7 64-bit setup some months back, but it didn't
graft on so nicely. Can't recall what went wonky now, but might have
been something with the hardlock thing blah blah blah...
Microsoft does offer an add-on called "XP Mode" or "XPM":

It's a 500MB download and in basic terms it's a virtual machine with XP
installed on it. Kind of going the same route as running wine on ubuntu.
Since it's a VM you'll get better performance out of it if your chosen
CPU offers virtualisation features (you're safe with any AMD, but check
that your Intel has VT support).
I'll be trying it this evening again. Have been meaning to do it for a
few months now, but just too much other stuff going on these days.
