Subject: Moving my car?

Lie. Tell AAA that you were driving the car, it started to overheat and that
lights and buzzers were going off, so you promptly turned around and parked
it in your driveway. "to prevent further damage"
Tell them you need it flatbedded to the new place. Don't talk about repairs
or other stuff and politely decline their offer of taking to a AAA
"mechanic". Just give them the address of where it needs to go. Say, "my
mechanic is located at this address. . ." (true, because that's were you'll
be).
AAA subs out towing to local operations. When the dude shows up have him
load it up. When he drops it off, slip him a $10 bill and he'll be happy.
I've done this to move cars between Vail, CO and Boulder, Co, about 100
miles, several times.
Good luck,
Tom '95 S6 Avant.

The V-8 decided to be balky (needs a radiator installed, and I simply didn't
have time to do it in
the rest of the madness) and thus cannot be driven.
I do have "The Ultimate Classic Audi Owner's All Purpose Tool" - AAA plus,
which will tow (flatbed)
the car something like 100 miles for free.
Someone on one of the lists said they did this - what's the correct
phraseology to get them to do
this for free? I do NOT want to hear "Oh this tow doesn't qualify because it
is the third Thursday
of the month and you owe us $7,589.65." or similar BS, so what do I tell
them and what do I keep my
mouth shut about?
I know about flatbed required, the car is licensed and insured, it is just
sulking right now (or
maybe it is simply pining for the fijords - do they have fijords in or near
Neckarsulm?)
