Better be REALLY sure the thermostat is the problem. They rarely fail,
BTW. You'll have to remove the front bumper and cover, move the core
support into the service position, remove the accessory drive belt and
tensioner, and remove the timing belt covers. The thermostat is behind
the timing belt. On the 12v cars, it's just barely possible to fish the
thermostat cover out from behind it, but that may not be possible on the
24v cars. If I were doing this for a customer, or even on my own car, I'd
do the T-belt, the water pump, the aux belt, and all the
rollers/tensioners. In fact, given past experience, I wouldn't take on
the job without doing the cam chain tensioner gaskets. All in all, a
pretty big job, one that experienced tech use up the better part of a day.
