I spose you're right, but in the same regards, I find tracking a 3600lb car
to be a trial in futility anyway.  If I want track time, 2400lb Miata works
just fine.  And even a proper drivetrain/suspension configuration to boot.

I prefer the Audi's I drive to be comfy and good in snow.  No doubt between
the C5 A6 and B5 S4 the extra 500lbs or so makes  a bit of difference, I'm
sure part of it comes on with the Heavy duty Automatic transmission, and
some of it for extra sound dampening and the likes associated to the top end
model.   I don't recall the A6 being available with a 6-speed at all in the
V8, but that would be in my mind the desirable combination.  Or even a
5-speed, which would help bring the weight down.    However, shedding 500lbs
in an A6 is also something I wouldn't attempt as it would defeat the purpose
of owning the car, IMO.  I'd prefer the V8 to the Bi-turbo due to
maintenance concerns.
