Extended Warranty??

I'd pass. In fact, I buy my cars just out of warranty mainly because they
are cheaper and that scares "normal" people. And I love to do things on a
50k miles car myself, it's a way of knowing each other better, you know :-)

Your car was reliable ? Then past is the best warrant of future. For the few
times I had to use an extended warranty, it was always a fight with the
service people, arguing about just anything, and then I was not satisfied
with what they've done. And remember, they offer it to customers like you
who have a nice record, a customer that is likely to maintain its car well.
More, if they offer it to you, it's because long-term warranty are a way to
get more cash from a customer whose car is paid and likely go to an
independent shop for service.

And keep clear of those third party : there worse still.

But do yourself a favour : take that 2546$, or what you are willing to give
them for peace of mind, drop it in a bank account, and use it for what would
be covered if you did take it. Don't pay tires or brakes, just what would be
covered.

Since we'll be here for the next decade, many of us are already more than a
decade old listers, you'll report to us what's left in that account at the
end of the hypothetical warranty. I'm sure you'll have money left.

I'll be around, as Honey's next ride will be a 06 or 07 A6 Avant for sure.
And my next car will be an A5...when times come to replace the old girl.
