Extended Warranty??

That seems awfully expensive, especially considering that normal maintenance
should take care of any
major issues... I would assume that a timing belt, for example, would not be
covered by the warranty, since
it is a maintenance item.....

Subject: Extended Warranty??
Hi All,
I have an '06 A6 Quattro that has never had a problem My warranty is up,
though, and I want to know whether I should buy an Audi extended warranty.
They're offering me a 1 year/12,000 mi extension for $2,546, and I can
increase it for $900-$1,000 per year (or additional 12,000 mi) for 2, 3, or
4 years. They also offer 4 year/60K or 5 year/60K warranty extensions, but
they're a lot more expensive.
With the Audi warranty, I still have to pay full price for standard dealer
maintenance, and failing to get it done may invalidate the warranty. There's
also a $100 per visit deductible.
I've received a solicitation from a 3rd party warranty extension company,
but I'm nervous about that.
So, the question is whether I'm likely to spend more than $2,500 over the
next year or $5,400 over the next four years in repairs. I'd appreciate
thoughts, ideas, and experiences people have had with this stuff. Thanks.
Eliot
