NAC, new beetle question

Hi all, sorry for the NAC, but I¹m wondering what to look for. Wife¹s New
Beetle (2006, tdi) has experienced a complete and total failure of both
headlights. All bulbs are good, as are fuses. If this was an Audi, I¹d
suspect the ignition switch. Any insights into the problem before I have her
take it into the shop?
