Would not pull this from a wreck, very common failure and likely they will
fail in short order.  I would talk to SJM or Mirimar Audi and see if they
have a better price for you.

OK folks,

The ignition switch is now out of the housing and.......just as I figured it
is a pot metal piece that is on the tail end of the switch. The tail on the
piece broke off. The piece is easily separated from the switch. It's just a
roll pin that hold it on.

I made a quick run to the local Audi dealer and the parts folks say that
piece is not sold separately and I have to buy the whole switch for
$195....+/-.....Ouch.

It would also mean a rekeying   Double Ouch!

Is there any other source for this simple casting.

If necessary I will visit my local junk yard but a visit to a bone yard in
the middle of the summer is not my idea of fun.
