5000 and Ski Jumps

I live near Calgary and have owned (with my cousin) 3 1988 5000cd Quattros
built for the 1988 Calgary winter Olympics (along with another 3 or 4
“ordinary” 5TQ’,

Folklore around here is that Audi ran one of these 88 Oly cars up the
Calgary ski jump. In fact there is a car for sale here (right now) that is
claimed to be the actual car that was run up the jump.

I am very skeptical about this as no one seems to be able to verify the ski
jump story. One local Audi “expert” even states that the car slid backwards
off the jump in a failed attempt. This is the same guy who claims genuine
88 Olys are worth a fortune in Germany. A “genuine” 88 Oly can be verified
by a little slip of paper (about 8 ½ x 1 inches) stuffed up into the holes
in the body plate for the rear parcel shelf (from inside the trunk).

The Oly that I am currently driving had this “delivery slip” or whatever
stating it was delivers to the “Calgary Olympiad.” My other Oly did not
have this slip but I am certain it is genuine by the stripes and decals and
the suede upholstery.
