VW 1l engine car for real

This car is definitely for real, but it will never be cheap.

I mean, look at this photo:

As you can see it comes with an entire trailing fleet of support 
vehicles. That's your hidden cost right there.

I'm also not sure if I'd like to try out the roadholding abilities on 
something labelled "Wobli".
