'07 A3 2.0t Oil Consumption

Most manufacturers consider anything under 1 Qt/L per 1000 mi "normal".
Now, keep in mind, this is atypical.
The most important determinant in oil consumption is break-in. I have 3
cars at the moment and one that i got rid of not long ago.
3 audis, 1 porsche. 2 audis (2.7t, 4.2) and the porsche (2.7 m96) use
essentially zero oil in 5-7k synthetic changes. They were broken in by me.
My mom's car, which i maintain, was broken in incorrectly ( as i found
out). It began life using about 1 qt/700 miles and has slowly reduced
that consumption over the last 15 years as it, apparently, wears in more
properly.
I doubt consumption is "engine model" related. Its either a tolerance
issue in manufacturing ( rare these days) or a break-in issue. In any
event, 1qt/1000 if topped off regularly (like every 350 miles) will not
accelerate wear. It cna go decades happily, gulping oil all the way.
