Wonder why lowest viscosity, esp. if prices are about the same for different
viscosities?
0W... is thin oil, recommended mainly to reduce fuel consumption. Good for
cold winter but hardly necessary. I'm in Canada, where we have cold winters
(some times 30 below Celsius) and use 5W...
As others have said, for turbo at least ...W40 is needed.
BTW, I change my oil every 16K km and use OEM long-term oil filters (every
2nd oil change) as recommended by VAG in my manuals and use no oil between
changes on a 1.8T and a 2.0 (last 1 with 297K kms, had it since new).
And I check my oil once a week at least, more often on long trips.
