MC replacment gone wrong, lessons learned

Never met a hydraulic system I liked, this one is no different.
Put a new MC on my 80 TQ, stock vacuum booster. First the powerbleeder
blew the feed hose apart, spraying fluid everywhere. Then the pushrod in the
booster fell out.
Now I have 4 speedbleeders, everything is together and bled, pedal nice and
firm. Except when I started the car up, the pedal goes to the floor with
almost no resistance. Turn the engine off, pedal is nice and firm again.
I didn't see and gaskets or o rings between the vacuum booster and the MC
or chassis, did I miss something. Has anyone else gone through this issue?

For what it is worth, the speedbleeders rock. Actually easier than the
powerbleeder method.
TIA
