Dennis,
It's been a few years since I worked on my '93 90S (almost 5), but I recall that there are actually two separate temp sensors on the 12v V6. I seem to recall that I only replaced one of them.
Maybe this site will help:

This looks promising:

Now I remember, I replaced F76 for the gauge because I didn't think mine was accurately showing the temp.
I don't have the family album installed anywhere either since I end up rebuilding my computers about once a year or so. (Windows slows down as the registry expands from installing/un-installing software.)
My '93 90S was traded in back in September of 2005 for an '06 Ford Five Hundred AWD. Great car, but I wrecked it last October and am now driving a '10 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited. I looked at the 2010 A4 2.0T, but the Subie has more OEM power at $9K less money. The Legacy has less weight and more power than the Ford = more fun! (And the Ford was no slouch considering the size/weight.)
