Altitude Sensor

Recently I needed to remove the glove box from my '85 4kq. As you may know
the ECU and Altitude Sensor are mounted on the side of the box. So that I
could continue to drive I plugged in a spare ECU I had laying around. I just
left the Altitude Sensor unplugged. I started the car and it ran as exactly
as it usually runs - no difference. I live at sea level could that be why?
Or is my sensor just dead?
