I have a friend on another community we call the "cyborg".  His hearing 
impairment is assisted by a pair of "aids", one runs 35 dB, the other 50 
dB.  The ability of modern technology to allow a remote control that 
lets a person click on "filter for party environment" or "filter out the 
wife" </sexist comment> is amazing.
