Sea Ray Sundancer 340 (34 foot).... but I prefer to keep the laptop in the
padded bag when under way.... waves or flat water. It still has the
original Sony cassette head unit in it (Sea Ray wasn't exactly
state-of-the-art back then) and I use a headphone to cassette adapter.
Clearly not hi-fi, but it works.... but I'd prefer something integrated with
a remote control, and not using the iPod's D/A converter. Back in the day,
I was installing (and had in my own GTiVR6) $8,000 (+/-) systems
frequently. I amazed more than one home stereo audiophile with mobile
equipment (time alignment and kick-panel placement had a lot do to with
staging). But today, those MAJOR buck features are in all but the lowest
end equipment. But on the boat.... there's too much extraneous noise (even
at anchor) to even think about a high-end system. Besides, I only spend 20
hours per year even listening to music on the boat.... generally the water
is all I need!
I do encode in loss-less as I do use the ipod classic (80GB?) occasionally
in the home theater.
