You know, that might be a good idea... the factory switch for the fogs on my
A4 is probably more robust than the headlight switch.  I already did the
modification where the fogs stay on with the high beams.

A few years back when I owned a 200q20v with stock lights, I installed a
couple of Walmart or AutoZone-Sourced Fog lights and wired them to be
triggered by the stock fog light switch on the dash.
 
I grabbed power for the relay from the positive post under the hood and just
tapped into one of the fog light wires to trigger the relay.
 
This was a very cheap solution that made for more than acceptable low beam
and high beam lighting.  
 
Total investment maybe $25.  
 
Don't know if you have fog lights you can turn on and off, but that could be
a convenient place to trigger your lighting upgrade.
