You have got me thinking a blend door is not working properly. Or, if
they still used the foam covered blend doors in these, I'd be thinking
that's probably suspect as well. I'd be checkin all of that. I've
NEVER seen a water pump that proplerly cooled an engine that couldn't
keep the heater core hot. THink about it this way, how big are the
radiator hoses compared to the heater core hoses. If it can keep up
with the engine cooling it can certainly supply coolant to the heater
core.
BTW, if you have to go in to do the blend doors, replace the heater
core also. If it hasn't gone yet, it will shortly :( They generally
last in the 10-15 year range on these cars.
