John, I'm replying to the list because your email service won't let this
through...
I bought a Bosch oil filter at O'Reilly. That particular store still has a
Kragen sign up. The Bosch filter was the only one they had with the
anti-drainback valve. I bought a couple of Frams for my Mom's and Sister's
Camrys. So I got all my oil change duties done.
When I lived here almost 20 years ago, there were a couple of import parts
shops fairly close to Palos Verdes. Now that doesn't seem to be the case.
The chain stores still have their presence here and in most cases it just
takes a little more work to deal with them. Which is why I go internet mail
order almost exclusively now. Even with two very good and close options for
retail near my home in Colorado Springs. Normally I'd just wait for the
mail order but I wanted to get the oil changed before I head back to
Colorado.
Thanks for the assist though John, I greatly appreciate it.
Ed

Any shop specializing in VWs can sell you one. There is a reply on the
digest which I'm guessing is a joke. PEP boys? Gimme a break. The
state has shut a bunch of their stores down ............ If you'll tell
me where you are, I can probably point you in the right direction. John
