<< You're kidding, right? I have *never* used my 16mm sockets or wrenches. In
fact, I have whole swaths of wrench and socket sets that have never been
touched, due to VAG's 8-10-13-15-17 approach to hardware. >>
Funny you should mention this. I just did my first repair work on my first
"modern Audi" (I guess the '95 A6q avant wasn't as "modern" as I thought it
was). I replaced the right front air spring on our "free" 2001 allroad. My first
time working on the new ("new" as in more than a decade ago now design) front
suspension design, the one with a zillion control arms. What was I missing from
my tool box? 16mm and 18mm wrenches!!!!! Thankfully I had sockets (and I even
managed to crack a Snap-On 16mm 12pt socket that was maybe the first time even
used on a rail of sockets I have owned for around 25 years now). I got the job
done (the dreaded pinch bolt came right out!). Need to add some 16mm and 18mm
wrenched to my tool box now. Caught me by surprise. Welcome the old school Audi
guy to new school Audi wrenching.
