Can front springs from a "90" be used on an "80"?

BTW, 80's and 90's both came available with the 2.0 3A 4-cyl. If you
get springs out of one of those, they will be the same.

Do you have a broken one, or are you looking to just change the ride quality?

You can find a softer set of springs for your car, but it will be some
work. I guess if I were looking for a softer ride in an 80, here's
what I'd do (aside from buying a Buick ;-) ) :
Get a set of springs off a FWD 4000 from 85-87. These will also be
shorter than the stock 80 springs by about 1.5" when compressed. So,
you will also need to get the spring supports off the 4000, or cut and
reweld yours higher. They will need to be cut off the 4000 somehow. I
like to use a cutting torch. Then, get a piece of pipe that is the
correct size to go between the two spring supports, basically raising
the 4000 spring perch. Cut the pipe to the desired height (about 1.5"
or so) and then install everything with your new springs on top of the
raised spring perch. this should put you very close to the stock
height, and you now have softer springs.

Then again, the Buick idea is easier......................................
