Oy!  Stay away from the 2.7T.

Of the remaining Audis, I think the best option would be the A4 with
V6 and 5-speed. At 175K miles, it will probably need a clutch. But
that would be cheaper than a replacement Tiptronic transmission. It
will leave you enough left over from the $5K to fix what needs fixing.

The 100s and 90s are too old and you'll have electrical issues and
deteriorated rubber.

But, the red convertible, if it floats your boat, might not be
too bad -- reliable, under-stressed V6, knobs for the heat and
AC instead of electronic controls, even the automatic shouldn't
be too bad.  Make sure the rear brakes aren't frozen, that the
hand brake works, and that the top has no rips, tears, a clear
rear window, and that its motors work.

But really, given your situation, consider this for a few years
until you have plenty of money to get the Audi you want.
