Tire threads can sometimes get some ires up, as one man's Holy Grail is another's piece of $&%*#!
The problem you are going to run into is that todays 15" is yesterdays 13". Much less availability for 15's these days. It may start to come back with the 14s as the hybrids and electrics are going back to small dia tires. But for now - not much variety.
The RE71, and Sport 5000 are discontinued as far as I know, and in fact I think the Sport 9000 (the 5000s replacement) is already discontinued.
Fortunately, tread compounds have come a long way in the last few years, and the term "all-season" no longer should be viewed as a failed compromise on both ends. We are running Nokian WR G2 all season tires on our '05 A6, and I was blown away by the traction performance this past winter. Nokians are not cheap, but are the best all season and winter tire going.
For price point value, Yokohama, and Sumitomo are making decent tires for the money. Bridgestone and Dunlop are a financial step up from there.
Your choice will more than likely be dictated by availability of your particular size.

Hi guys,
Since I've gone back to school and been mostly unemployed the past few
ears, I had to curb my ninja tire-buying excesses from previous years....
'm out of touch now and need a set of nicely performing tires that will
ake me through snow if needed. Not for track.
I used to like the Bridgestone RE71 and Dunlop SP Sport 5000 ilk, and I've
ad Yokohamas (dang I can't remember the name but you'd recognize it --
as an interesting square tread pattern) for my Alfa Spider.
What are you driving these days and what do you recommend for a 205 50/15?
Thanks!
