I was aware of the Renault e-brakes : a motor, installed on the axle or on
the floorpan that actuates very short cables toward normal e-brakes.
But that Passat e-brake is very interesting (picture at the middle of the
page).

A self contained e-brake, with the motor installed on the caliper, that will
interest a lot of people looking for brake swaps...

VAG has been using electric parking brakes for over 5 years. They run the
electric motor/actuator right on the caliper.
