Same Golf wagon, Comfortline versions, the price difference between the 2.5
5-pot and the TDI is 2800$.

A3 : 1350$ for the 2.0 TDI over the 2.0 turbo

Q7 : 5000$ for the V6 TDI over the VR6

Now you get the real picture. Factor in the resale value and fuel
consumption advantage, and the ROI is not far away for some high milers.

So what does the base gasoline version cost if it is upgraded to the 
same option package as the base TDI?  And does it add enough weight to 
make the gasoline version have even worse fuel economy?
