A4 Avant tailgate lock problem

Guys,

Thought I throw this out there and see if anyone's been through this.  The tailgate lock on my A4 Avant keeps unlocking by itself.  Even when the lock is turned to the horizontal (valet?) position, it will still unlock.  Its a royal PITA, you get ready to take off, put the car in gear and the tailgate indicator comes on or worse, you drive off and don't notice for a block.  Then you've got to stop, jump out, really unlock the hatch, and then lock it again :(
