Did fairly complete brake job on S6 ('02) today. Some comments and questions ( after the fact)

Nothing urgent. Just some surprises that may be FYI, or maybe you have ideasl.

All is workign well, despite hiccups along the way.

Did all 4 corners. Hawk HPS pads; rear rotors, took off front rotors and cleaned rust/light sanded them; dis-assembled all calipers nad lubed guide pins, flushed fluid.

Needs some bedding, but feels great.

Several things went awry along the way. Any BTDT or future advice?:

1. two of the 4 bolts that hold in the HP2's guide pins were pretty seized; the start bit fit poorly, and i rounded them. Is there something odd about the bit? I used the best fit Torx from my fairly complete set. Pretty corroded.

2. Both of the rear calipers initially refused to turn to screw them back in. I have the kit from ECS/Harbor ( same kit) - is i had quite a good tool. had to make a lever for the handle, and nearly hurt myself trying to hold stuff in place. Too lazy to remove and put in vice. not sure my vice is large enough anyway. Got 'em though.

3. Those 21mm bolts holding on the front calipers are on there! wound up with 3' breaker bar up on a lift and finally it goes "crack!" re-snugged and drove home.

4. No biggie, but my Hawks came with 4 pads equipped with sensors. What do I do, cut off the wires from two? At the moment they are tied out of the way. I hope. NBD, but odd.

5. Thanks to 4D4. The rear rotors responded well to few nice "taps" toward the center. OK, f-ing whacks. i hate whacking things with bearings. But i now have new rotors on the rear. Not needed, but sitting on the shelf, therefore free.

Anyway, the brakes feel terrific. I don't know that i notice any different byte compared to stock, btu stock was always good. What i do feel is very smooth operation, very consistent side : side and F : R; and a nice high pedal with nearly zero travel. Also, previously uneven front wear patterns (outer 3/4" of external side of rotor was rusting [implies no pad pressure] - why?) is now consistent.

I did apply a small amount of CRC anti-squeal to the fronts, not the the shimmed rears.
