New starter behaving strangely

I don't think this is it (for starts, all the CSVs I've seen use a
switched ground, not power), because the symptom was a free spinning
starter not engaging the flywheel - ie, a bad solenoid.
Like I said, he just bought it, it's bad, he should return it.
