Mike, you have a few issues to be aware of, as it sounds from reading your
post. Your caliper can be "seized" and still foot (hydraulic) brake
moderately well, and probably suck e-brake wise, even if *you* don't
notice. Replace it or get it to turn in are your options there. Is not
replacing the pads until you have time an option? Could try turning it back
and forth till it frees.
I'm thinking you're not fully tooled with a shop, lift, vise, press(es),
etc. at your disposal?
I'm also thinking you haven't touched the suspension as well? do you care
about an alignment? your timeline doesn't suggest it.
If you are planning on just replacing the outer CV while inner stays in the
diff flange, you're going to have to split rear suspension parts that could
(besides fail) either need to be kept in orientation(eccentric bolt) or
risk alignment and need to be tightened while weighted (measure hub to arch
as is on the road)..
Once the spindles out of the hub you can use the bolt to start driving the
CV off the shaft, but will probably need a dowel or something as a spacer
to finish the task. I wouldn't want to hammer the CV back on while in
place, but if you do I would suggest the heaviest smallest like a mini
sledge so you don't have to swing so fast, and use some wood. Keep the CV
straight when it goes on or your gonna have have a bad time.
