Would NG engine mate to 4KQ tranny/chassis?

I'll chime in here as well... I had two 86 CGTs before getting the 87 with
an NG engine. Definitely feels livelier. I did miss the really low part of
the torque of the earlier engine, but it doesn't take long to forget it.

I'll add that although it seems like a small upgrade, the feeling of power
and torque is quite significantly different between the two engines. I've
driven plenty back to back, and it certainly feels like there is much more
than a 15hp difference.
For comparison, my 4000Q has a 2.25 exhaust and turbo cam on the JT, and
still doesn't feel as quick as a 100+lb heavier stock 90Q.
