The "battery" in the power module is going out, don't think there's much can be done about it other than replacement.  The controller has the 2 connectors for the VAG1551, where you can verify by reading out the codes.

The airbag light on '90 200 turbo quattro stays on for  awhile after startup -
eventually goes out.

Is there a reset switch for the airbag light?

Common culprits?
