leaking windshield washer tank?

Lee,
Had the same problem on my B5 A4. The connection at the spray head cracks and leaks out all the fluid. The replacement part is over $100. Since I don't really need headlight washers, I had my mechanic just plug the hose end. This is a common fault among A4s and A6s. If you remove the front bumper the problem will be quite obvious.

My wife's '96 A6 is going through a lot of windshield washer fluid and I
suspect a leak somewhere. She ran the windshield washers in the garage and I
did not see any obvious leakage.
With the ignition and headlights on but the engine off, the headlamp washers
did not pop out. I'm ASSuming that the engine must be running for them to
engage and wash the headlamps. In any event, I did not see any leakage along
the hoses running to the headlamps.or anywhere else.
What else should I be checking?
Thanks,
Lee
