Any performance parts shop (performance improvements, karbelt, etc.) Will have a DEI brand starter wrap. It wraps the whole starter, doing the same job. Relatively cheap if I remember correctly.

Melt the solenoid?!! Wonder why the mechanic did not transfer wrap? He knows
the car has a turbo. Have you know cases of the turbo milting? I'll ask
mechanic to hold on to wrap. Just in case he doesn't have wrap, where would
I get a wrap?

I hope you moved the silver to the new starter. It's a heat shield to
prevent
teh turbo from melting the solenoid. THe heat shield isn't supplied with teh
starter, as on NA motors, it's not required.
