A friend of mine in college had a VW bus. I jumped in to drive it once, and
smashed my right foot on a brick that was in the driver's footwell. When I
asked him what it was, he just laughed and said "cruise control". I later
picked one up and drove it from LA to Monterey for another friend- in almost
8 hours of driving, we passed exactly 3 cars. The amazing part was despite
braving near-rush hour LA traffic on the 405, not one of the zillion cars
that got caught behind us ever honked or flashed their headlights at us-
they just waited patiently until they could find a gap and get around.
