I'm copying a reply I sent to someone else. Has the details! =)

Volunteering isn't very glamorous... but it IS appreciated. First it can be
cold outside. So proper attire is a must. Basically the volunteers pick up
and reset cones that are destroyed or moved by the students and help run
exercises from a safety standpoint (blind corners.... so you motion by hand
or make a radio call if a car is stuck or stopped). Everyone is in their
own street driven cars, and we don't want any car-to-car contact. Some car
to snowbank contact is inevitable. =)

We use the http://www.teamoneil.com/ facility in Dalton, NH. The event
hotel (you're responsible for all costs except the banquent on Saturday
night... the club buys you dinner) is: http://www.mountainviewgrand.com/
I tell the student to buy the volunteers drinks... so that *should* also be
covered. LOL
Also, save all receipts... it is a tax deductible organization, so
I understand some might take a donation tax write-off on my taxes for
volunteering. Oh, we also provide a basic lunch for everyone on Saturday.

A lot of people bring up wives/girlfriends/kids... they can come out to the
facility or enjoy the hotel (like my wife... she's driven a couple times as
a student, but since having a child relishes a day alone at the spa).

If you want to drive your own car around the facility, we generally have
about an hour of play time after setup on Saturday AM, but before students
arrive. Also, you may drive in the time trials (think snow autocross) on
Sunday.
