Some of the extended warranties are pretty good, being in the repair
business I see them every now and again. I have to jump through a few
loopholes from time to time, but overall my impression is pretty good.
HOwever, as Fay stated, the dealership will probably not honor them.
My .02, stay away from MB, they used to make some pretty incredible cars,
but haven't (in terms of reliability) for a while now. And they are $$$$$ to
fix! I do like Volvo's, but mostly the older 200, 700, and 900 series.
