One thing I'd recommend on the Dodge is to add a fuel pressure guage, and
seriously upgrade the brakes. The engines are VERY stout, and still get
pretty decent milage.
I've driven quite a few, and prefer the older 12V's over the 24V's for the
lower maint. Power is pretty similar, a little better in the 24V.
The reason for the fuel pressure guage is to watch for the impending doom of
the electric fuel pump mounted ont eh side of the block. When it goes, the
Injector pump will be forced ot such the fuel, which it is not designed to
do. $3500 later you will be back on the road :(
If you mostly drive easy, light trailers, and flat ground, the brakes may
not be an issue. However, down mountain passes, even in an empty truck, will
warp the rotors pretty quickly. BTDT several times before finally upgrading.
