95 S6 computer problem

Thanks for the replies.
Specifically.... It was the crankshaft position sensor that has been was 
replaced, because the computer said it couldn't read that pin.
I have relayed all your replies to the mechanic and he is checking to see 
that the pins are there.  But haven't heard any offers that would get him a 
good working computer module to swap in and verify that the computer is OK. 
So far, his only option is to buy one for about a thousand bucks. Maybe 
somebody would consider renting out a computer spare that they have on the 
shelf?
