programming key remotes

Subject: programming key remotes

I just bought a 2006 A6.  It came with two key remotes and neither work.  
Batteries are good and red light flashes in the remote but doesn't operate the 
door locks.  I want to re program them.  The procedure that worked with my 
old 1999 A6 doesn't work on the "06.  Anyone know what does?
