1991 Audi 200T Auto-tranny Qs

Our first Audi was a 1990 200T. It's a nice car, somewhat dated at
this point, but probably good for many more miles. It won't handle
as well as the later cars, but if you're looking for a good basic
daily driver or a long range cruiser, it's a wonderful car.

That having been said, the car the OP describes is a labor pit, if
not both a labor and money pit. There's a reason the car was taken
apart.

As others have said, you can buy the same car, all put together,
in running condition, for about the same money. Why then invest in
a basket case that you may never get back together...unless you're
looking for a winter project.

There's an old saying..."there's nothing as expensive as a cheap
european car!" Buy the best one you can afford, one that has been
taken well care of.

In our case, the guy that owned the 200T before us had lined the
ashtray with felt to keep the coins from clanking around. He had
the full stack of repair receipts and overall took great care of
the car. We drive it for three years before we upgraded to a C4 A6
wagon (and quattro!).

Do a quick search on Craigslist around the country and you'll find
dozens of interesting, running Audis in the $1000 range. Most of
them will be quattros.

Enjoy!
