Hydraulic Pump Question

No, you must remove the pump to get to all the mushroom caps and to
separate the pump halves to get to the internal O-rings. You COULD
replace the O-rings under the top caps in place, but if one is leaking,
the others probably will follow suit soon. And the internal rings will
be failing shortly after that. If you don't have any kind of visible
leak from the nose and the pump isn't sucking air past the shaft seal
(no bubbles in the reservoir while running), you don't need to replace
that seal.

I copied and scanned the pages covering the pump and you can see them starting at< http://www.pbase.com/kneale_brownson/image/114727641> and clicking on the "next" button four times. They're not as clear as in the book itself.

The leak appears to be isolated to one point in the pump: A ring of metal about the size of a quarter that sits on the outside of the pump. There are bubbles of the green hydraulic fluid coming from the space between the metal ring and the body of the pump.
