A Happy Ending

Several of you helped console me when my 02 TT Roadster blew up at 153k km.
Yes, the much cursed timing belt broke, entirely because two Audi dealers
advised me that the belt had been replaced at 95k km when the water pump was
replaced. Isn't that what RE&RE means?

Not so, I have no reason now to believe that the timing belt was anything
but the original one installed at the factory.

The happy ending was a cheque from Audi Canada for $3,309 to cover all my
costs of replacing the damaged head. My first call netted me $500 for my
inconvenience as a loyal Audi customer. A second call found a customer
representative who remembered that after much bad press, Audi had extended
the warranty for the timing belts to 169k km! Yes, there was a requirement
that the belt was "checked" regularly but they accepted that both Audi
dealers did so, as did I when I changed the oil at 130k km.

OK, I contributed my labour for free, but you do have to give credit where
due to Audi who kept me loyal.
