B5 A4 rear sub-frame

I've never seen that before, but it does look like a crack which formed over
time.  It could be welded, but your alignment might never be 100%, and I'd
remove it as to not burn the bushing and to weld/clean from both sides.  So,
a used subframe and bushings would be my vote.
